about

Dhangsha tracks are dark, edgy soundscapes characterised by modulating frequencies hijacked from techno, underpinned by heavy off-kilter beats and mangled to give the impression of listening through damaged speakers. The remit is to explore of minimalism, repetition and fragmentation in sound.

The name "Dhangsha" is from Bengali for 'destruction,' relating not only to a sonic approach, but a de-construction of ideas that do not have the best interests of people or communities at heart. Titles like "Ecotage," Earth Bloc and "Dead Zone" betray the underlying political concerns that inform the urgency of Dhangsha's soundscapes.
