about

“Live at Spirit of Gravity,” was recorded on 3rd November 2022 at the so named renowned event at The Rossi Bar, Brighton. On the actual occasion, Dhangsha was wonderfully shocked to find way more bottom end than he’d become accustomed to in the over specc’d sound system, and set about playing with abandon, yet focussed and brutal. As if challenging the established strictures of dub, he collided overdriven bass pulsations with corrosive digital distortion, allowing every so often, outbursts of non-metric mayhem to further disrupt the flow. In doing so, he managed to finally manifest the distressed textures and collapsing rhythms that had been relentlessly sparring inside his head.

The music is not only affected by current social vibrations, but in keeping with SoG’s motto “Making experimental music a threat again,” endeavours to be a source of propulsion for those who would amplify its political implications beyond the confines of the venue.

Dedicated to the SoG collective for their open minded and on point curation over 21 years, the audiences for their welcoming attitude and unflinching curiosity and the artists for fulfilling the brief.

Note: Tracks 1 to 7 are all the titles separate; Track 8 is the entire gig in one flow. People buying the whole album receive all 8 tracks.

His remit is to explore minimalism, repetition and fragmentation in sound, and the potential, using these principles, to express or imply political sentiment. ... more
